All it takes is money

After deciding to replace the old teak decks, templates were made to match the originals. The old teak overlay was removed using a hammer and wrecking bar. Ten zillion screw holes had to be filled with epoxy and the fiberglass decks ground with 24 grit disk. While we were at it, we drilled lots of 3" holes to check on the condition of the balsa core.

Even though the moisture meter had read as high as 100% in some places, the core was not rotten and over the course of the winter the core dried out. TeakDecking Systems fabricated beautiful, half inch thick, teak deck panels that were glued in place. Only a few screws were used. So now the boat has the most gorgeous Burmese teak decks you ever saw, all for about $100. a square foot.
